Community Classes

Current Class Schedule and Online Registration

The Olympia Food Co-op supports the Community Classes program, where you can learn everything from how to hold a kitchen knife, to prune a fruit tree, to cook Italian delicacies, and more! Though the bulk of our offerings relate to cooking, we also feature classes on gardening, personal health, social justice, and sustainable living. Classes are generally held at the GRuB Farmhouse, the Westside Olympia Food Co-op Garden Center, or our Community Classroom downtown. All of our classes are led by Olympia Food Co-op member-owners who volunteer their time and expertise.

At the heart of all of our programming is the spirit of generosity. Our instructors share their excitement and knowledge, and students sidle up to the counter to stir, chop, and sample in a community of learners. Our classrooms are a place to experiment, to explore, and to try something new in a supportive environment.

Many of our classes focus on basic kitchen skills, often paired with a solid education in a particular kind of food: hearty greens, fermented foods, meat, etc. Learn fundamental skills for a lifetime of great cooking! Our garden, urban farm, and sustainable living classes are also geared towards beginners, with no assumption of prior knowledge, often packed with specific projects that may appeal to those with more experience as well.

Check out our classes and register online here. You can also register in person at Customer Service at either Olympia Food Co-op store, 8am – 9pm.
